Breaking at the 2024 Summer Olympics

Overview

Breaking, also known as breakdancing, will make its debut as an Olympic sport at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. The competition will comprise two events - one for men and one for women - with 16 athletes competing in each event.

Competition format

The competition will be held over two days, with the preliminaries taking place on 9 August and the finals on 10 August. The preliminaries will consist of two rounds, with the top eight athletes from each round advancing to the finals.

The finals will consist of three rounds. In the first round, the athletes will perform individual routines. The top four athletes from each round will advance to the second round, where they will perform head-to-head battles. The top two athletes from each battle will advance to the third round, where they will perform a final routine to determine the gold and silver medalists.
